Hello, my name is Natalie Wiser-Orozco, and welcome to The Devil Wears Parsley! I’m a native Las Vegan turned Southern Californian, currently living in Moreno Valley with my husband, Angel, and three cats, Roland, Sookie, and Julian. I couldn’t imagine life any other way; I consider myself to be one of the luckiest girls on the planet.
I started The Devil Wears Parsley in 2010, initially as a way to share what I was cooking in my kitchen. When my father died later that year, it evolved into platform to promote healthier living, and embracing life with vigor. My purpose is to share recipes that are made with the most local, fresh, organic, and unprocessed, whole foods possible, with 110% love.
I believe in working hard, laughing often, eating well, and caring for one another. Life is too short to get caught up in negativity. Living life to it’s fullest, and enjoying it in it’s entirety starts with feeling good! Feeling good stems from a healthy diet and exercising regularly, with the occasional indulgence, of course! Besides creating delicious rock star worthy recipes, I outline reliable resources to nutrition, studies, helpful hints for food preparation, and food myths.
I am a heavy metal esoteric. Once Twisted Sister entered my super-early childhood, I was hooked! More than two decades later, I’m a frenzied, concert-going metal chick, trying to break the negative stereotypes that go along with the genre.
When I’m not concert-going, I am a science nerd and computer geek. I have my BS and MS in Computer Science, and work full time as a Software Developer at Imagine Systems, Inc. My love for what lies beyond this planet is formidable, manifesting itself in my master’s thesis: The Extensible Simulation of Planets and Comets.
In the winter of 2011, my eyes were opened to the world of Craft Beer. The beer that created the passionate spark was Stone Brewing Company’s Vertical Epic 11.11.11, a Belgian Strong Ale brewed with cinnamon and hatch chiles. Ever since, my husband and I are on the hunt for a new beer or brewery we haven’t tried. We’ve also made some great friendships as a result!
I am a recent fashion convert, in love with sparkle, shine, edgy shoes, tattoos, and (gasp) dresses! I help stray animals whenever I am able, and strive to embrace and protect the everyday beauty and magick of this beautiful planet we call home.
Let’s connect! You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Cheers!
