Yes, you read that right! It’s true! Mötley Crüe has called it quits in their January 28th Press Conference at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, California.
They’ve done something that no other band has done before – they’ve signed what their lawyer, Doug Mark, is calling a “Cessation of Touring Agreement”, which means that no entity, or individual shall tour under the name of “Mötley Crüe” ever again. Sure, there have been other bands that have “called it quits”, or labeled their tour a “farewell tour”, but no band has ever signed a legal, binding document like this before. When pressured by the press to find any loopholes, Nikki Sixx replied, “Keep looking for the loophole – We’re going to stick to our word.” So, there you have it! This is not because the guys don’t like each other, it’s all been done in the “spirit of camaraderie,” Doug says.
Even though this may be sad news for some, there were also some juicy tidbits offered to tide over the devout fans. First off, there will be a TRIBUTE ALBUM!! So check this out – Scott Borchetta, the CEO from Big Machine Records is spearheading the operation to make a country-style tribute to Mötley Crüe. Whaaat? Country? Hey, that’s cool, right! I’d LOVE to hear some of these songs with a country spin. It’ll be different, that’s for sure! Borchetta will be creating this work of art alongside Motley Records and Eleven Seven Music. The country music artists that are already confirmed for the album include LeAnn Rimes, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band and Cassadee Pope. Now that the word is officially out, I’m sure that other country stars will step up to the plate!
As if the news couldn’t get any better, there will be a MOVIE made, derived from the book, Mötley Crüe: The Dirt! Can you just imagine the debauchery!? I haven’t read the book yet myself, but I do plan on picking it up. Jeff Tremaine (involved with the Jackass Movies) pitched the movie, won the gig, and as the project stands now, they’re finalizing the script. They’re trying to follow the vibe of the book to the tee, and really capture its essence. Jeff is thrilled to be working on it, so rest assured that the movie will kick some major ass!
Now, for the news you have been waiting for – THE TOUR!! Mötley Crüe will embark on a 72 city tour starting July 2nd in Grand Rapids, MI alongside Alice Copper. What a show that will be! Alice is a phenomenal showman! I’ve never seen Mötley Crüe, but you bet your booty I’ll be at the Hollywood Bowl on July 21st to see them for my first (and final) time! I hope to see you there! Tickets went on sale to the general public a few days ago, so don’t dilly-dally. If you’re not in the area, there will be plenty of other cities to catch the show. If you’re not in North America, don’t worry your black little heart about it! After their North American stint, they’ll be sailing the seas to other countries, bringing the bad.
METAL FOREVER,
P.S. If you’re interested in reading Mötley Crüe: The Dirt – Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band (By Tommy Lee), you may also be interested in reading The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star by Nikki Sixx. I know I’ll be picking up these babies soon. Metal autobiographies are always so entertaining! I have high expectations!

Great post Natalie! The photos are awesome – I like the little gravestones!
I’m also a massive Motley Crue fan and have seen them live a few times! The Dirt is a great book, I think you’ll love it. If you enjoy that, and The Heroin Diaries, I think you’ll also like Tattoos and Tequila (Vince’s book) xx

Thank you Lynsay!!! Oh man, I can’t put down the Heroin Diaries – I’m about halfway through. It’s crazy to think that drugs can do that to people. I’ll keep an eye out for the Tattoos and Tequila book! Thanks for the heads up!
