The Wayne Static Benefit Show took place Tuesday, January 20th, 2015, geez exactly one month and a day ago! Coincidentally this night was the night of the new moon, which is a perfect time to let things go. It’s always so, so hard when you lose somebody. He passed away on November 1st, 2014, and up until this benefit show occurred, I personally let the denial phase of grief take me over completely. So much so, that I was feeling nothing. I hadn’t cried, or even thought about his passing in a few months. Not in a way that I really recognized it. Wayne started out as just a rock-star for us, but towards the end, it blossomed into a pretty special friendship along with his wife, Tera Wray Static.
The show was filled with fans, and friends and family of Wayne Static, including his wife, Tera Wray Static, and some of Wayne’s family members. Many rock stars came up and took the stage – I didn’t know many of them that night, but I went through the internet painstakingly to identify each and every individual and link to their website or social media, so I hope you find that useful!
It was hard to see the marquee in front of the Whisky (shown below). It was so final, and by the time the concert had ended – about 1:20AM on a weekday (OUCH!!), I felt like I had cried and sobbed all the moisture out of my body. It was really fantastic to be able to hear the Static-X and Wayne Static songs one more time, even if some of the performers didn’t do so hot. They did their best, and they really were heart-felt performances from everybody.
So, below you’ll find the first broadcast of the live-stream that happened that night, and the rest are photos taken by myself. I’ve been wanting to share these with you for so, soooo long, and I hope you enjoy them.
